Hector Shaw grew up immersed in traditional Scottish music, but the world his songs map is quieter and more interior than the one he was raised in. With a keen eye for the unspoken, his songs are charged with pastoral longing and nameless desire, floating above finger-picked guitars and folk-tinged arrangements. Hector’s songs echo the same intimate storytelling as Sufjan Stevens, Phoebe Bridgers and Laura Marling. There is no better example of this than his recent single, 'Noah', a letter to an estranged friend with a queer twist.
Hector has recieved support from 6 Music, BBC Introducing, and his sophomore EP Fawns earned a nomination for Best Acoustic at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards. He has toured both the UK and Europe supporting the likes of Katie Gregson-Macleod, Jacob Alon and Lizzie Reid, and has played Cambridge Folk Festival, Celtic Connections and Belladrum's Tartan Heart.
